Population: A highly numerous species. There are no exact data on the number of lapwings in Kazakhstan but the world population is estimated at between 5.6 million and 10.5 million individuals. The European population is about 1.5 million to 2.5 million pairs.

Status: Non-endangered game animal.

Habitat: It breeds and migrates across the wetlands of most of the territory of lowland Kazakhstan, north to the Kamysh-Samara lakes, Naurzum, Lake Selety-Teniz and Pavlodar Zairtysh. In recent decades, lapwings have begunto nest on Lake Markakol. During migrations, it is also found in waterless areas.
