Population: Common, sometimes numerous.

Status: Non-endangered game animal.

Habitat.The Tolai Hare lives in the dry steppes, semi-deserts and deserts of Kazakhstan. Its range covers the plains and mountainous regions of Transbaikalia, Mongolia, Western China, Central Asia, and Northeast Africa. In Kazakhstan, it is wide spread in its southern half from the Caspian Sea in thewest to the Zaisan basin in the east, including the Tien Shan mountain ranges - Ugamsky, Karzhantau, Talassky, Kirghiz, Ileysky, Ketmen (Uzynkara), Kungei andTerskei Alatau.
