Population: The number of the Kazakh population is estimated at 20.9-31.5 thousand pairs (2018). The global population is about 75 thousand adults (2021) and tends to decrease.
Status.
A rare and endangered species. Category V. The number is relatively large, but until recently it was rapidly declining
Distribution.  
Steppes and northern deserts of Eurasia from the lower reaches of the Danube River to Transbaikalia and the shores of the Yellow Sea, southward it penetrates to the deserts of Central and Central Asia. It is widespread in nesting in Kazakhstan, with the exception of the highlands. It winters in southern Asia, Arabia and Africa.
