Population: A preliminary estimate of the global population is 51-73 million mature individuals, but these data require clarification. There are numerous nesting migratory birds in Kazakhstan, there are no figures for the total number.
Status. Non-endangered game animal
Habitat. It breeds in forests in the Zhaiyk valley, the foothills of the south and south-east of the country and in a number of places in northern Kazakhstan. It rises to heights of 1000-2500 m in the mountains.
