Status. Category II – catastrophically declining
Habitat. Griffon Vultures breed in dry, rocky mountains such as the Chu-Ili and Karatau Mountains, where there are several colonies. It is found almost everywhere during the migration period including in Naurzum,Central Kazakhstan, Southern Ustyurt, Betpak-Dal, Saur and Southern Altai. In winter, birds have been observed atthe Shardara reservoir.
