Population: Currently, about 14 thousand Kazakh argali live in Kazakhstan.  

Status. Category III – rare, found in small numbers; The subspecies' range is represented by separate large and small foci; the number is recovering

Habitat.  Kazakh Highlands, Northern Balkhash region, Kalbinsky Altai, Tarbagatai, Monrak, Saur. In the 1970s, he disappeared in the mountains of Ulytau.
