Population: A common, sometimes numerous species. The population in Kazakhstan is estimated at 100-300 thousand individuals.  

Status. Non-endangered game animal

Habitat.  European hare - a steppe animal of Europe, Western and Minor Asia and North Africa. In Kazakhstan, it is distributed in the northern half from the Urals in the west to the Pavlodar region in the east. The southern border of the range goes through Karaganda to the northern Aral Sea region, Ustyurt.
